One Man’s Vision...
Now a Tradition in Jewish Education

In 1944, Rabbi David L. Silver z”l, saw a need to provide Jewish children with a strong academic program that incorporated the rich traditions and valuable lessons of their heritage. He met that need by founding The Yeshiva Academy.

Today The Yeshiva Academy is a progressive, modern school that welcomes all Jewish children. Our rich, challenging curriculum helps students achieve the intellectual and social skills needed to succeed in their lives and careers. At the same time they gain appreciation for the values of Jewish life and are taught the tenets of good American citizenship.

As a constituent agency of the Jewish Federation of Greater Harrisburg, The Yeshiva Academy welcomes children from all streams of Jewish life—affiliated and unaffiliated.

The Value of a Jewish Education

Day schools are private elementary, middle and high schools. They provide children with Jewish and general education in a nurturing environment while offering a strong sense of community and Jewish identity.

Jewish day schools promote active learning and engagement by building common threads across the curriculum, thus forging a more holistic learning experience.

Jewish day schools offer a rigorous curriculum that prepares students for college and post-graduate study.

Jewish day schools provide young people with an extensive peer community that supports a positive and knowledgeable Jewish identity.

Graduates of Jewish day schools are equipped with a level of Jewish literacy that allows them to make life decisions inspired by Jewish values, traditions, texts, and culture.
