Yeshiva Academy students expand their world view through exploring their cultural heritage, engaging in community activities, and pursuing advanced educational experiences.
Learning Beyond the Classroom

The Yeshiva Academy’s academic program is complemented by an innovative enrichment program. In addition to an eighth grade trip to Israel, our students benefit from extracurricular activities such as Math Counts, Science Olympiad, film and computer clubs, basketball teams and theater performances.

Languages are emphasized in all grades and are taught through a total immersion method.  This includes classes in Hebrew, which begin in kindergarten and continue until the student’s graduation from The Yeshiva Academy.

Located within the Jewish Community Center (JCC), The Yeshiva Academy gives students access to the center’s many amenities and activities, including a swimming pool.

Academics are complemented by an international enrichment program designed to stress the link between geography and history. This program includes twinning with an Israeli school and participating in a shared book program that features a web-based discussion with worldwide participants.

Beyond the formal Jewish education our students receive in the classroom, The Yeshiva Academy actively involves its students within the community. Monthly visits to The Jewish Home and The Residence, holiday programs with Jewish Family Services and JCC seniors groups enrich our students through intergenerational contact. Our middle school Gam Chai—community service—program requires our children to work for 18 hours in a volunteer capacity within the community, including area Hebrew schools, The Jewish Home, The Food Bank and local shelters. Our children learn the value of Tzedakah through action.

A Tradition of Contributing

Since its founding, more than 2,000 students have attended Yeshiva Academy. Many of our graduates are professionals and leaders in businesses, corporate, medical and scientific fields across America and abroad.

These alumni recognize and appreciate the richness of their experience at The Yeshiva Academy. Countless Yeshiva Academy graduates offer support to our school after they reach adulthood, through contributions of their time, expertise and donations.

In fact, their generosity allows us to offer financial assistance to ensure that no qualified child is denied a Yeshiva Academy education.

The presence of The Yeshiva Academy has been and continues to be a determining factor in the attraction of new families to Harrisburg.  This includes rabbis, cantors, educators and other Jewish professionals, who join our congregations and provide unmatched contributions to our community.
